About Me

Abby Mayer, LMT, MLD-C [she/her]

I began my educational journey by obtaining a degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Fredonia. I moved out west immediately following graduation in order to broaden my horizons and gain some real world experience, intending to eventually pursue a graduate degree and become a therapist. Instead of moving forward with that plan I ended up working in food service and hospitality for 7 years - this experience taught me how to curate an intentional experience and anticipate the needs of my clients.

I very much enjoyed having an active work environment, as opposed to being tied to a desk all day, and this realization is what eventually brought me to massage therapy. I felt that massage was the perfect combination of being able to work one-on-one with folks in a therapeutic setting, while still working with my hands.

In the spring of 2019, I graduated from Lane Community College - a well respected massage program nestled in the quaint hills of Eugene, Oregon. I began my private practice right away, while simultaneously working in a Chiropractor's office part-time. This allowed me to work with a broad range of clients, from those seeking stress relief to those who were recovering from traumatic motor vehicle accidents. At the beginning of 2020, I moved to Philadelphia in order to be closer to my family.

My interest in working with people who are dealing with stress and anxiety was born from my own personal experience. I very much enjoy working to relieve people of their physical pain, but helping to ease emotional turmoil is something that I find even more fulfilling, since I believe that can be particularly detrimental to a person’s health.

I feel honored to be able to provide a safe space where people can simply pause and learn to feel connected to their body in a positive way again. I'm so grateful to have finally found a career that I feel passionate about, and one which allows me the opportunity to help other people in my community.

What makes my practice different?

Meticulously Curated Playlists

Personally I think ambient music is well suited to massage, but I (and most of my clients) enjoy some variety! We can listen to Sam Cooke, A Tribe Called Quest, Elephant Revival, Lo-Fi, or you can bring your own.

Easy Online Booking System

Have you ever spent days playing phone tag trying to schedule an appointment? Me too. Who has time for that?! I do all of my booking online so you can get on with your day.

All Inclusive Pricing Structure

No nickel and dime-ing here! Every massage comes with all the bells and whistles… which includes hot towels, aromatherapy, CBD, cupping, a heated neck pillow, weighted hot pack, and more!

No Talking (Unless You Want To)

Shhhhhh! I always default to not talking during your session except to communicate about comfort. That said, feel free to chat if that’s how you best relax! I’ll let you take the lead.

A Truly Tailored Experience

I keep track of all your preferences so that each visit is seamless. Everything from your preferred nickname, favorite scents and music, what level you like the table warmer at, and any special bolstering you require.

There’s Literally No Rush

Ever gotten a massage where they practically shoo you out the door after? I take the time to sit down and get to know you before our session and also build in extra time afterwards.
